“On the Job” Support Group to meet Mondays at New North

February 16, 2009

A new support group for people in transition to their next job will meet Monday mornings at New North Church, 1 Lincoln Street, Hingham, beginning February 23.

According to New North pastor Rev. Bill Turpie, the weekly meetings will assist people looking for work in today’s challenging business environment.

“Our goal is to provide support for people in the areas of developing networks for finding jobs and exploring new networking possibilities,” Turpie said. “We will try to help people identify strengths and weaknesses and assist them in developing strategies for employing employment resources, such as social networking sites like LinkedIn.”

Meetings will be held in the Ruth Curry parlor in the parish house at the rear of the church building from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Coffee and bagels will be provided. The church has free wifi connections, so participants are encouraged to bring laptop computers if they have them.

The first meeting will be led by Bill Turpie pastor of New North, a former small business owner and television producer. The program will continue for successive Mondays as along as there is interest. Various outside resource persons will be brought in from time to time.

For more information, call Rev. Turpie at 781-760-2098.

New North is an independent community church which is open to people of all religious backgrounds. Weekly services are held Sundays at 10:30 a.m..
