The New North Church, overlooking the green at the foot of Lincoln Street in downtown Hingham, is one of the oldest and loveliest churches in a town known for its beautiful, historic church buildings.

New North was built in 1806 by a group of local citizens, led by Revolutionary War General Benjamin Lincoln, who had become disaffected with the town’s principal church, now known as Old Ship.

After many years as a Unitarian-Universalist parish, New North was re-opened in 1970 as an independent community church. Today New North offers a traditional Protestant service with a liberal, non-credal theology that seeks to be inclusive and all-embracing. People of every religious background are welcome as visitors and members.
