Faith & Baseball: Sunday, April 27, 2008

On Sunday, April 27, Dr. William Herzog will preach at New North Church’s 10:30 morning service on “The Seventh Inning Stretch.”   He will join us afterwards for a luncheon featuring discussion with DAVID MEHEGAN of the Boston Globe on baseball, faith and America’s fascination with the game that began on the sandlot and now occupies significant space in our summer memories.

Bill Herzog is widely respected for his Biblical scholarship, his popular teaching style and his outspoken commitment to justice. He is dean of faculty at Andover Newton, a New Testament scholar and a lifelong member of Red Sox Nation. He co-authored a book entitled “The Faith of Fifty Million: Essays on Baseball, Religion and American Culture.”
